Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated sharply, with Pakistan violating the ceasefire for the fourth consecutive day along the Line of Control (LoC).

According to the Indian Army, during the night of April 27–28, 2025, Pakistani forces initiated unprovoked small arms fire across the LoC, targeting areas opposite Kupwara and Poonch districts. Indian troops responded with swift and effective retaliation, ensuring the situation remained under control.
This fresh violation follows earlier incidents, including the night of April 26–27, when Pakistani posts targeted Indian positions in the Tutmari Gali and Rampur sectors. Indian forces effectively countered the aggression with appropriate small arms fire.
Pahalgam Terror Attack Deepens the Crisis
The ceasefire violations come just days after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which resulted in 26 fatalities. In response, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have intensified counter-terror operations.
Officials confirmed that the houses of nine suspected terrorists have been demolished so far, including:
Adnan Shafi Dar (Shopian)
Amir Nazir (Pulwama)
Jameel Ahmad (Bandipora)
Security agencies are leaving no stone unturned in their hunt for those responsible for the attack.
Diplomatic Fallout: Treaties Suspended
The terror attack and ongoing firing incidents have severely strained diplomatic ties.
India has announced several retaliatory measures:
Cancellation of visas for Pakistani citizens.
Suspension of the Indus Water Treaty, a landmark agreement from the 1960s.
In a counter-move, Pakistan has:
Suspended the Shimla Agreement of 1972.
Closed its airspace to Indian commercial flights.
Omar Abdullah Urges Careful Action
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah supported the firm action against terrorism but cautioned against alienating local civilians.
The people of Kashmir have openly rejected terrorism. We must build on this support, punish the guilty without letting innocent people suffer, he posted on X.
