A popular YouTuber recently made shocking claims about Gauri Khan’s upscale restaurant, Torii, alleging that the paneer served there was fake. The video quickly went viral, sparking a flurry of reactions from the public and the restaurant itself.

Torii quickly responded to the allegations, defending the purity of its ingredients. In a comment on Sachdeva’s Instagram post, the restaurant explained that the iodine test detects the presence of starch, not the authenticity of paneer. Since their dish contains soy-based ingredients, the reaction was expected.
The restaurant’s statement read:
“The iodine test reflects the presence of starch, not the authenticity of the paneer. We stand by the purity of our paneer and the integrity of our ingredients at Torii.”
YouTuber Sarthak Sachdeva conducted a food inspection at various celebrity-owned restaurants, including Virat Kohli’s One8 Commune, Shilpa Shetty’s Bastian, and Bobby Deol’s Someplace Else. Armed with a vial of iodine tincture, he tested the paneer at each restaurant to check for adulteration. When the paneer failed to react to the test at the first three locations, he was shocked by what happened at Gauri Khan’s Torii.
Upon applying iodine to the paneer at Torii, it turned black. Stunned, Sachdeva exclaimed, “Shah Rukh Khan ke restaurant mein paneer nakli tha. Ye dekh ke mere toh hosh udd gaye the” (The paneer served at Shah Rukh Khan’s restaurant turned out to be fake. I can’t believe it!).
The video of this incident quickly went viral, with viewers expressing their shock at the result.
