Rajpal Yadav Debt Case: Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn & Bollywood Stars Come Forward To Help
The Hindi film industry has come together in support of veteran comedy actor Rajpal Yadav, who recently surrendered at Tihar Jail after a long-running ₹9-crore cheque bounce case.
Several big names from Bollywood — including Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Sonu Sood, and Varun Dhawan — have reportedly offered financial assistance to help the actor resolve his legal troubles.

Industry Support Pours In
Rajpal Yadav’s manager Goldie confirmed that many celebrities reached out as soon as the situation worsened.
According to him, not only actors but filmmakers and music personalities have also stepped forward to help.
Some of the prominent people who offered support include:
- Ajay Devgn
- Sonu Sood
- David Dhawan
- Varun Dhawan
- Gurmeet Chaudhary
- Salman Khan
- Tejpal Pratap Yadav
Music producer Rao Inderjeet Singh Yadav
The music producer has reportedly already offered ₹1.1 crore in assistance.
Goldie stated that the actor deeply appreciates the support and the industry has “stood behind him like a rock.” However, he also clarified that financial arrangements take time and cannot be completed overnight.
Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa also appealed to people to support the actor and even offered to pay him an advance for appearing in an upcoming music video.
Why Rajpal Yadav Was Sent To Jail
The case dates back to 2010, when Rajpal Yadav borrowed ₹5 crore from a company named Murali Projects Pvt Ltd. The money was used to finance his directorial debut film Ata Pata Laapata.
Unfortunately, the movie failed at the box office, leading to heavy financial losses.
Because the loan remained unpaid for years:
Interest accumulated
Penalties were added
The total amount rose to nearly ₹9 crore
To repay the lender, the actor issued multiple cheques, but they bounced. This resulted in criminal proceedings under the Negotiable Instruments Act, which governs cheque bounce cases in India.
Delhi High Court’s Order
The Delhi High Court had directed Rajpal Yadav to surrender before jail authorities by February 4, 2026. The court criticised repeated breaches of commitments made by the actor regarding repayment.
His legal team later offered:
A demand draft of ₹25 lakh
A fresh repayment schedule
However, the court refused to cancel the surrender order, stating that the judiciary cannot create special treatment simply because someone belongs to the film industry. The judge emphasised that compassion must be balanced with discipline.
On February 5, 2026, Rajpal Yadav surrendered and began serving a six-month jail sentence at Tihar Jail.
Upcoming Projects
Despite the legal troubles, the actor’s professional career continues.
Rajpal Yadav was recently seen in Baby John and Interrogation. He is also scheduled to appear in Akshay Kumar’s upcoming horror-comedy “Bhooth Bangla”, expected to release on April 10.
