Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has found himself at the center of controversy after revealing that he drank his own urine as part of a personal health recovery method.

While the revelation sparked curiosity and headlines, medical experts have strongly advised against the practice, warning of its dangerous health implications.
Why Drinking Urine Is Harmful
Leading liver specialist Dr. Hegde, popularly known as the Liver Doc, slammed the practice, describing it as unscientific and potentially harmful.
“Urine contains concentrated waste products like salts, urea, and ammonia, along with potential microbes from the urinary tract. Drinking it can worsen dehydration and disrupt electrolyte balance,” Dr. Hegde explained.
In cases of dehydration, urine’s salt concentration becomes even higher, which can intensify thirst rather than relieve it.
Moreover, because urine contains filtered waste and possible toxins or medication residues, re-ingesting it could risk toxicity or dangerous side effects.
Dr. Hegde also warned that forcing kidneys to reprocess urine places additional strain on renal function, potentially leading to kidney damage over time.
Medical Experts Issue Strong Warning
While Paresh Rawal’s unconventional claim has generated plenty of attention, health professionals urge the public not to imitate such practices.
Doctors emphasize the importance of evidence-based medical advice and caution people against believing viral health hacks often shared on social media.
